Medical transcription and its future
A physician makes voice notes of the treatment that he has provided to patients for the purpose of transcribing it to texts later on. This process of transcription is handed over to one or more trained people to do the job called medical transcriptionists since the physicians themselves find little or no time to take care of documentation and would rather spend more time providing care for patients and rightfully so. This process called Medical Transcription should be up-to-date in keeping track of all patient records which will start from a patient’s symptoms to the final treatment provided and the follow-up.
Utmost care must be taken to have error-free transcriptions since it could affect insurance payouts The MTs take care of these records in chronological order and make them easily accessible for physicians at any point of time. Medical transcription is required for all specialities in the medical field and is most often outsourced to various medical transcription service-providing companies. The recorded reports or transcriptions are then stored in a digital form in electronic medical records (EMRs) or electronic health records (EHRs).
